Dog No Winter Coat –Find me a Spring or Summer Dog Jacket!
People often see dog coats as garments that only protect from the rain and
cold, yet dog jackets apply to more seasons that just winter. If you’re
searching for a dog coat for spring, summer or fall and want a ‘dog no winter
coat’—or un-winterized dog coat—don’t worry, there are lots of lightweight dog
jackets for multiple seasons that will suit dogs of any breed or size.
Although winter dog coats and jackets are widely popular and necessary in many
circumstances, they are not often an appropriate weight for other seasons. As
such, here are some dog jacket suggestions for spring, summer and fall:
Spring
Because spring is somewhat of a shoulder season incorporating some of the
winter’s cold and summer’s heat, like fall, it is not always the easiest time to
outfit a pooch. Fleece dog coats are good for this season because they are warm
yet breathable; therefore, if you’re out for a walk and it gets sunny, you can
take the coat off the dog once they’ve warmed up a little. Otherwise, options
for dog spring wear are dog sweaters and
dog rain coats as spring is often
synonymous with rain.
Summer
Summer is a great time to outfit your dog in a
neoprene dog jacket. Since neoprene
is made out of the same material as wetsuits, it’s great for a pup that will be
near the water. In addition, neoprene also has a temperature regulating effect,
thus it can help control your dog’s temperature whether it’s hot or cold. Other than
neoprene, dog life jackets are ideal for dogs who will spend the summer near the
ocean or at the lake-front cabin. Finally, lightweight doggie t-shirts or
sweaters are great for nightly walks or guarding against insect bites.
Fall
Like spring, fall shares its temperatures with summer and winter. In this season
of falling leaves and changing colors, look for fleece-lined dog sweaters or
jackets. Fleece lining makes a dog garment breathable and whisks any moisture
away from the dog’s skin to provide proper ventilation.
