Dogwear Etiquette for the Social Dog
Dogs have become more than a domestic pet. They have immerged as loveable
companions, faithful friends and ‘members of the family.’ Because of this new
status, pups are going everywhere and doing everything with their owners. This
has brought about the need for proper dogwear, dog gear and etiquette when out
and about.
Dog apparel etiquette and suggestions:
1) If you and Fido are walking during the day in the park or on a busy street,
make sure Fido is dressed in something bright like a dog jacket or
dog accessory
so others will see him approaching. Many people look ahead rather than down when
they are walking, as such, it’s a nice courtesy to have your dog wear something
noticeable.
2) Another time when it’s important to bring visibility to your dog is at night.
To make sure your pup is bright at night, a dog coat or vest with reflective
strips in a good idea. This safety measure will not only protect your dog,
but alert walkers and drivers to your dog's presence.
3) Shoes off please. If you and your dog are doing the rounds and visiting
friends, you wouldn't want your dog to traipse through your neighbors’ homes
with wet or dirty feet. A way to avoid this is purchasing
dog accessories like
booties. They’ll not only keep your dog’s feet clean and warm, but will also
allow you to bring your furry companion with you into the whitest of floors.
4) These days, dogs are allowed in a growing number retail outlets ranging from
spas to furniture stores; yet, some people are allergic and others just don’t
fancy dogs. So your dog is a ‘courteous citizen’, make sure they are leashed at
all times. This way, dog-lovers will flock and chat, whereas dog-avoiders will
turn the other way….and everyone is happy.
